Jimmy A. Powell is the President and
Principal Web Architect of
Stellar Media Group,
the South Bay’s leader in affordable website design and hosting
services. Originally founded as Powell Web Designs in 1995, Stellar
Media Group has been providing quality web solutions to companies
throughout the United States for nearly a decade.
Jimmy was born and grew up in the small town of
South Boston, Virginia.
Upon graduating high school, he attended National Business College
from 1991 to 1993. He left school in 1993 to pursue musical
interests, but quickly got back into the computer scene with the
release of Windows 95 and the emerging internet revolution that
followed.
In 1995, Jimmy founded Powell Web Designs and began designing
websites for local companies and organizations. Enrolling at
Danville Community College in 1997, Jimmy pursued a degree in Network Engineering and graduated Sum Cum
Laude with a 3.9 GPA in the spring of 2000. A member of Phi Theta
Kappa, he was consistently named to the President’s List for
Academic Excellence and in 2000, was listed in
Who’s Who Among Junior
Colleges.
In 2000, Jimmy became Webmaster for a local internet provider in
South Boston, Virginia, where he helped the company revitalize its
internet presence and expand its customer base. Jimmy left the local internet provider in the spring
of 2001 and renamed Powell Web Designs to Stellar Media Group. He
began offering a variety of services including, but not limited to
website design, website hosting, domain registration, and internet
consulting.
In the summer of 2001, Jimmy accepted a contract position as
the Creative Director with IShopSouthBay.com and temporarily
relocated to Redondo Beach, California. After only a few short weeks
in Redondo Beach, Jimmy decided to permanently move to the South Bay
and officially relocated Stellar Media Group to Redondo Beach in
November of 2001.
Stellar Media Group joined the
Redondo Beach Chamber of
Commerce in December of 2002 and has since been providing
website services to some of the South Bay’s most popular websites.
Our local clients include the Redondo Beach Pier, Palos Verdes
Chamber of Commerce, 1800DJ4Hire.com,
Pier Plaza Properties, Conte Productions, South Bay Consulting,
and many, many more.
Recently added to the list of great services offered by Stellar
Media Group is digital photography. Jimmy’s photographs have been
featured on many local websites and publications including several
cover photos for Homes & Land magazine. Jimmy was recently hired to photograph components used on the
U.S. Air Force’s newest jet fighter and Predator drones currently
being used overseas.
Jimmy’s dedication to detail coupled with his flair for creative
design has helped him create some of the most visually appealing and
user friendly websites on the web. His commitment to complete
customer satisfaction is what sets Stellar Media Group apart from
the competition and is the reason it has weathered the ups and downs
of the dot com craze while other web companies have come and gone.

On the rare occasion that Jimmy is not surfing the web, he enjoys
reading, watching movies, studying world cultures and religions, and
spending time with his long-time girlfriend who assists him with the
day-to-day operations of the company.
