When Cartoons Attack (What all the fuss is about)
Posted by Jimmy :: Friday, February 3rd, 2006 :: 8:46 PM PST :: Comment On This Post

By now most everyone has probably heard that the Muslim world has it's Burkas in a bunch over some cartoons printed in a Danish paper but no one really knows what all the fuss is about. Allow me to explain. As if there aren't enough things about Islam that are just totally absurd it's also against Islamic law to draw or make any likeness of Muhammad or Allah and like pretty much anything else in their stupid culture, they're ready to kill anyone (Muslim or not) who violates this silly rule.

Case in point: A Danish newspaper ran a series of 12 drawings depicting Muhammad as a terrorist (GO Denmark!) last September and the Muslim world is just now finding out about it and of course, taking to the streets ready to kill and torture people. If it's ok for Kanye to dress up with Jesus then Muslims ought to be able to deal with a few political cartoons. And besides, who are they to tell the rest of the free world who we can and can't draw!

Stupid !@#$%&@#$ Muslims!

At the risk of getting myself killed, here's a few of my favorites:

Driving Miss Hillary . . .
Posted by Jimmy :: Friday, February 3rd, 2006 :: 7:03 PM PST :: Comment On This Post

Hillary Clinton and her driver were cruising along a country road one evening when an old cow loomed in front of the car. The driver tried to avoid it but couldn't - the old cow was killed.

Hillary told her driver to go up to the farmhouse and explain to the owners what happened. She stayed in the car making phone calls to lobbyists.

About an hour later, the driver staggered back to the car with his
clothes in disarray. He was holding a half empty bottle of expensive wine in one hand, an expensive Cuban cigar in the other and was smiling happily, smeared with lipstick.

"What happened?" asked Hillary.

"Well," the driver replied, "the farmer gave me the cigar, his wife gave me the wine, and their beautiful twin daughters made mad passionate
love to me."

"What did you tell them?" asked Hillary.

The driver replied: "I said, I'm Hillary Clinton's driver, and I just killed the old cow."

But I Want To Play Pool At 12:01 AM
Posted by Jimmy :: Friday, February 3rd, 2006 :: 12:26 AM PST :: Comment On This Post

I have a lot of fond memories of my hometown and enjoy visiting it each year around the holidays but every so often I get reminded how lucky I was to get out and realize how silly small town politics can be. Case in point: I was browsing my hometown's paper online (a miracle in itself) and ran across this article;

In my little hometown, it seems that it will soon be illegal to play pool after midnight (or before 1pm on Sundays) which is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. I can only guess that the World of Sports bowling alley is at the heart of this "controversy" due to other local businesses being jealous at it's designation as an amusement establishment....which it is!

Last time I was there, in addition to the the dozens of bowling lanes, they also had a little room with two pool tables and dozens of arcade games which will no doubt have to be closed at midnight while it will seemingly still be ok to get drunk and bowl until 2am. Not that it would really have any effect on me if I still lived there but I can only imagine my reaction if someone told me the town ordinance mandated that I stop playing pool at midnight but that I could drink and bowl for another two hours if I liked.

What's next? No dancing after 10pm? No afternoon delights?

There was very little for young people to do when I was living in South Boston and it seems even worse these days. Instead of focusing on "controlling" when people can and can't play pool (I was under the impression that South Boston was in America?) maybe the town council should focus on bringing in new jobs and new entertainment options for the deprived citizens of SoBo.

Why Do People Go To Iraq?
Posted by Jimmy :: Tuesday, January 31st, 2006 :: 1:21 AM PST :: Comment On This Post

For the life of me, I can't understand why Americans who aren't in the military decide to go to Iraq. Case in point: 28 year old Jill Carroll, a reporter for the Christian Science Monitor traveled to Iraq to report on the war and interview some Sunni politician with too many consonants in his name and of course was ambushed and kidnapped by Islamic terrorists.

She was shown on the Al-Jazeera terrorist channel over the weekend sobbing and pleading for the Bush Administration to release all female prisoners in Iraq, otherwise, her captors have promised to kill her. I don't mean to sound cold and heartless because nothing would make my blood boil more than this woman being murdered by her evil Muslim captors, but why on earth don't people get that it's not a good idea to go to Iraq no matter what your intentions. Anyone who goes to Iraq has to know that they are running the risk of being kidnapped and murdered by these Islamic assholes.

If this poor woman does get killed it should serve as a lesson to all Americans whether they be humanitarians, missionaries, reporters or whatever.

DON'T GO TO IRAQ!

It's just that simple. It pisses me off that she's been kidnapped and will probably be murdered in some horrible way but it also pisses me off that she went there in the first place. Why are people so stupid? Grrrrr!

The Day From Hell
Posted by Jimmy :: Tuesday, January 31st, 2006 :: 12:58 AM PST :: Comment On This Post

I used to remember the days when I dreaded Mondays but they're not so bad when you work for yourself...not normally anyway. Today was an exception and reminded me why people often say Mondays are hell.

9:12 AM - I'm still sleeping (cause I can) until the phone starts blowing up. One of my servers has gained server has become self-aware (ha-ha) and decided that it doesn't want anyone sending emails outside my network. I spend the next few hours working on that...not fun!

12:23 PM - One of reseller's clients decides to start running some insane database and streaming music streams to people all over the planet and eating up the CPU on their server before finally crashing their site completely. Luckily not a real problem for me or anyone other than them but it just left me shaking my head and thinking...what next.

5:37 PM - After effectively resolving the day's earlier events by rebuilding Exim and requiring everyone to use SMTP authentication things start calming down. I had dinner with Kim and eventually got to do a little "real work" before watching some TV and updating my site.

What a day!

Weekend Update
Posted by Jimmy :: Tuesday, January 31st, 2006 :: 12:42 AM PST :: Comment On This Post

Yes, I know you were expecting this on Monday but I've been insanely busy (a recurring theme at this point) and spending more time with Kim on the weekends lately versus being at the pc all the time. So anyway, here goes...

Friday - Friday was a killer day for me. I spent most of the day giving presentations to prospective clients and by 5:00 I had picked up one of the restaurants featured on last week's O.C. I was so busy Friday that I forgot to eat the whole day so when Kim finally got off work we headed to a fresh seafood place down by the water for some fresh shrimp and scallops. While I was there, I met the owner, told him what I did and he told me to call him about doing his website. Not to brag, but sometimes I really am the man out here! :-P

Saturday - We got out of the house on Saturday and ran a bunch of little errands and looked around in Costco and picked up a few small items. My computer monitor was on the fritz last week and really start going downhill by the time I got up Saturday afternoon so while we were out, I picked up a sweet 19" ViewSonic flat-screen to replace my dying CRT. I love it so much I'm thinking about getting another and having two sitting side by side and eventually getting a 21" and flanking it with the two 19's. It'll be a write off so why not? Later that night we watched Mr. & Mrs. Smith which was pretty good but didn't live up to the hype.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! - We've gotten into the habit of having Sunday Brunch at a little restaurant called Billy's. (Free food in exchange for my website expertise!! Cool, huh?) I had the heart attack special (Eggs Benedict) and Kim had corned beef hash, eggs, and fruit. After that, I did a little bit of work while Kim took a nap and then we had dinner, watched The Man, and several episodes of In Living Color.

Our weekend came to a quiet end...little did I know the hell that I would wake up to on Monday morning.

Google's Evil Deal With The Devil
Posted by Jimmy :: Monday, January 24th, 2006 :: 11:21 PM PST :: Comment On This Post

For those don't know, Google's motto has always been "Don't Be Evil." Really! That's their official company motto. Unfortunately, they broke their motto this week but rolling out a special version of their search engine in China that allows the evil Chinese government to censor results. Just like Microsoft did with it's operating system and it's search engine.

For shame Google! Maybe they should change their motto to be "Don't Be Evil Most of The Time" or "Search No Evil".

The internet was going to be the thing that (more than any military power) freed the world by providing information to anyone who could connect to it. But companies like Microsoft and Google in the pursuit of profits have made concessions to countries like China, North Korea, and virtually every middle eastern nation to allow censorship of it's products and search results.

That just disgusts me! The internet should not be censored by any country, group or organization and American companies like Microsoft and Google shouldn't be a part of supporting such evil. Information is power and regimes like China and North Korea know that. They know all too well that if their billions of citizens were free to see the outside world, their days would be numbered. If anything, the United States should be fighting an information war with these countries. We should have a room filled with the best hackers whose job is to thwart any censorship attempts on the internet by these countries.

My opinion of Google just plummeted!

Kanye As Jesus? WTF?!?
Posted by Jimmy :: Monday, January 24th, 2006 :: 11:00 PM PST :: Comment On This Post

Well here's something that's bound to cause a little controversy among the religious right in America. The next issue of Rolling Stone magazine will feature Kanye West posing as Jesus. But why stop there? Why not get Lil' Kim to pose as the Virgin Mary and Flava Flav could be Joseph. See where American culture is headed? It goes without saying that I can't stand Kanye West and his 'ignant' brand of not-really-music nor am I am fan of organized religion but something about this still seems just wrong to me.

What's even more disturbing is that Kanye West is a known Jew-hater just like his anti-Semite buddy Louis Farrakhan. Kanye received a special award from Farrakhan last year after making a "generous" donation to the Millions More Movement.

Too bad the Romans aren't still around...they'd give Kanye what he deserves.
