Warm
Summer's Day

I
was pleasantly surprised today when I opened the back
door to discover it was 84 degrees outside. There was a
warm breeze blowing and birds were singing and for all
intents and purposes, it was a gorgeous summer day even
if the calendar says it's January. I quickly donned my
favorite pair of camouflage shorts, a t-shirt and sneaks
and decided I needed to run some errands. Hopefully
it'll stay like this for the next few days and we can go
to beach. Oh wait, we have to do laundry and take down
the tree...oh well! |

Pat Robertson Is A
Moron

Comment On This Post
Sometimes
I don't know who's stupider, TV evangelists like
Pat Robertson or
Jerry Falwell or the idiots who follow them and
send them money. On his 700 Club show today, Pat
Robertson said that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel
Sharon's recent strokes were divine retribution (from
God) for the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. I'm
probably not alone in thinking that Ariel Sharon had a
stroke because he's old and not because
God was pissed at him. I can't wait for Pat Robertson to
have his first stroke or heart attack. I'm gonna be the
first to blame it on God's anger with Pat for being such
a world class dick!
And what about Jerry Falwell you ask? In case you
forgot, he's the idiot (along with Pat Robertson) who
blamed 9/11 on abortionists, feminists, gays and
lesbians.
|
Quote:
"The
abortionists have got to bear some burden
for this because God will not be mocked. And
when we destroy 40 million little innocent
babies, we make God mad. I really believe
that the pagans, and the abortionists, and
the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians
who are actively trying to make that an
alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for
the American Way, all of them who have tried
to secularize America, I point the finger in
their face and say: you helped this happen."

Great Comeback Line
(Joke of The Week)

Comment On This Post
This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It
is a portion of National Public Radio (NPR) interview
between a female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General
Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop
visiting his military installation.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things
are you going to teach these young boys when they visit
your base?
GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing,
canoeing, archery, and shooting.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit
irresponsible, isn't it?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly
supervised on the rifle
range.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a
terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching
them proper rifle
discipline before they even touch a firearm.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become
violent killers.
GENERAL REINWALD: Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a
prostitute, but you're not one, are you?
The radio went silent and the interview ended. You gotta
love the Marines!

Happy
Birthday To The Web Page

I've
been too busy to do an update on our exciting New Year's
Eve festivities but I thought I'd take a few moments to
share an interesting fact with everyone. It was 15 years
ago today (January 2nd, 1990) that the very first web
page was posted on the emerging world wide web.
Appropriately enough it was designed by this man, Tim
Berners-Lee who invented the internet in 1989
while working at CERN. Hi is widely recognized as the
father of the web. Can you imagine being the guy that
actually invented the internet? He also created the
first web browser and web server cause you can't very
well have web pages without a browser to view them on or
a server to "serve" them up.

Bad New PC Virus (Even
I Got It)
Posted by Jimmy :: Friday,
December 30th, 2005 :: 8:10 PM PST ::
Comment On This Post
After we got back from our Christmas vacation, I had
planned to spend all day Wednesday doing my annual 2006
billing but instead, my pc got infected with the worst
virus ever and it took me about 7 hours to get
completely uninfected. Despite the fact that I'm running
XP Pro and using Norton plus several other virus and
adware programs, I got nailed on Wednesday by what
Microsoft is calling "an extremely critical flaw" in
Windows...surprise, surprise. They're currently tracking
thousands of websites which are distributing the virus
which pretends to be a windows alert telling you that
your pc is infected and that you need purchase a program
(SpySherriff) to remove the virus but it's a trick to
get your credit card number. You've been warned.
I like to remove my pc
viruses manually but if you are unfortunate enough to
get nailed with this virus, I recommend Spyware Doctor.
It's $29.95 and will definitely get rid of the virus
cause Norton doesn't seem capable of doing it.

Safe and Sound
In California

Comment On This Post
Just an FYI...we're back in Cali after our short visits
to Richmond and SoBo respectively. It was a looooong day
of flying especially after getting picked for special
screening and having all of our luggage checked in
Richmond. Granted, I didn't see any Muslims breeze thru
inspection while we were being screened but in any
event, we're home! More Christmas updates later in the
week...maybe, I got a lot of work to catch up on
now...as always!
Anyway...hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and we had
a great time with everyone we saw and ran into and sorry
for those we didn't get a chance to see during our brief
visit. |

New Friends

Proving
its never too late to make new friends, we stopped by
the home of W.R. & Christine Privette on Christmas Eve.
Kim went to school with Christine and she's been a long
time fan of JimmyPowell.com so we took her up on her
offer to stop by and see their beautiful home on the
corner of Berry Hill and River Road. They gave us the
grand tour and showed us all their historic artifacts
before sitting down and just having good conversation. I
gotta say they were two of the nicest people I've ever
met. It's rare that you meet people these days who you
can strike up a friendship with in less than 5 minutes
but that's how it felt with W.R. & Christine. We're
looking forward to seeing them again "sometime" in 2006.
Thanks for the Christmas Eve tour of the old
Osborne House, W.R. & Christine! |

Chris, Kim's
bro and my best friend from back in the day, had to work
Christmas day cause someone had to keep the power going,
but we got to go see him for a little while. He gave us
the insider's tour of the power plant and it was
actually a really nice day outside. Seeing where
everyone gets their power from was a trip, especially on
Christmas day. |

After
opening gifts at my parent's house, we went up to the
Wilborn's house for lunch and I got to photograph all
the pretty Wilborn girls i.e., Kim, Sandy, Sidney and
Lacy! Kim started coming down with a sinus infection so
we didn't stay too long, but lunch was good as always! |

We
headed over to my parent's house on Christmas morning to
exchange gifts and most importantly to see Alexandra (my
niece) get her four-wheeler. Barry picked it up and
brought it to the house to surprise both Alex and
Tiffany Christmas morning. Looks like the neighborhood
will have a new Powell wreaking some havoc in the coming
years. :-) |

After
hours of fun at Mike's house, we decided to head down to
Hill's in SoBo and see if we could run into any of the
peeps we normally see around the Holidays. We ran into
Wyatt Barzack, Charles Womack, the infamous Shayne
Gravitt, my favorite cuz Dawn Church, and Tiffany
Jackson...not to mention Lisa and Melanie Womack and a
few others. |

Mike's Festivus Party

Friday
was Festivus and Mike had a few peeps over for drinks
and several hours of pure alcohol-driven silliness.
Wendy and Jerry were there and Stacy dropped by for a
while to reminisce about our Seven Oaks days and all our
adventures. Mike didn't let us down and entertained us
with his usual antics. We even got some on video. |

We
spent a few days in Richmond this Christmas hanging with
my brother Barry and his wife Shannon. They gave us the
tour of the city and took us to a few of their favorite
hangouts. We also watched a few movies and had a lot of
drinks. The one thing I can say about Richmond is that
it was COLD. We'll be back in Richmond on Monday and
flying back to LA on Tuesday. Thanks to Barry & Shannon
for taking us in for a few days. |
