Sign Of The
Times: Mexifornia

A new
billboard is starting to spring up in and around LA and
it's truly sad and insulting at the same time. It's an
ad for Spanish TV station here in LA and the billboard
has the words Los Angeles, CA with CA marked out and
replaced with Mexico. With an estimated 1000 illegal
immigrants coming across the border each day, this is
truly becoming Mexifornia. |

NOOOOOO! Not
Constantine!

DAMN!
Our personal fav Constantine got eliminated this week on
American Idol and he really has no one to blame but
himself. He chose a song that he couldn't pull off
vocally and he paid the price. Granted, Scotty should
have been gone weeks ago and still needs to go but
Constantine gave the worst vocal we'd heard from him all
season this week.
Too bad...I think he's way
more of a rocker than Bo but hopefully we'll see him
doing something soon. Rock on Constantine!

As you may have noticed there are a few empty blocks in
our Photo Gallery. Well, I've gotta say...I've
done my part in preparing all the pix for those as well
as the pix for 9 more galleries. The hold up is
w/the Supreme Webmaster - NOT me. So, if you'd like to
see new galleries posted, post a guestbook entry or send
him an email. Maybe it'll light a fire under him.
Sorry
hon...you brought this on yourself! Remember our deal:
I'd do the pix if you'd do the gallery &
post them?

Admin
Professionals Day

Just
wanted to say "Thx" to my "boss", Mr. Powell for the
flowers for Admin Professionals Day. He hand delivered a
beautiful bouquet of flowers to me at my "other" job.
You see, I've two Admin Asst jobs - one with
International Rectifier & one with Stellar Media Group.
My SMG boss can be such a sweetie...but then there's
always the non-stop sexual harassment I have to deal
with! <LOL>
I also
was surprised by two of my co-workers/friends at IR w/a
lovely flower arrangement and a big bag of Jalapeño
chips. (They know I'm a junk-food junky cause I'm always
eating those hot chips out of the snack machine.) Thx
Marissa & Myanh!
And on
top of all of that, another coworker & friend, Susan,
gave me a gift card to Macy's. Thx sooo much Susan!

Kim
sent me this last night and it's a pretty funny little
spoof of the Captain's Message...post 9/11. You'll need
to have your speakers on and NO, this isn't one of those
things that's gonna scare the crap out of you two
minutes in. I promise Mike!

This has got to be one of
the funniest vids I have ever seen. I was seriously
laughing out loud while I watched this. It's a clip from
Jamie Kennedy's old show The Jamie Kennedy Experiment
and he's the life guard in this skit. I swear I've
watched it like 10 times already and if you can't laugh
at this...there is something wrong with you. :^P
More
great video clips...

Weekend
Update

Spring is
finally here and although it was a little overcast this
weekend, we could still tell the difference with the
temps starting to rise and the sun staying out
later...the way it should be all year! Kim came with me
to the SpringFest Saturday afternoon while I
photographed and we partook in some delicious carnival
food along with playing a few games. Later that evening,
I cooked mesquite pork chops on the grill along with
scalloped potatoes and asparagus....hence the picture.

Sunday was a beautiful day
with clear skies and lots of sun so we laid out by the
pool most of the afternoon working on our tans...getting
a late start this year. Then came the worst part of the
weekend...clothes. We'd been putting off washing clothes
for too long and got started around 7pm Sunday nite...so
much for relaxing. Kim eventually had to go to bed but I
stayed up late and got all the clothes washed...kinda
weird washing and folding clothes at 2 in the
morning...and yes, I'll be sleeping late today...one of
the benefits of working for yourself.
I'll be
glad when we win the lottery and can hire a
maid...ha-ha! |

The
Redondo Beach Spring Festival was going on this weekend
and as always, I was commissioned to photograph the
event. This year I decided to also go at night and do
some time lapse photography to get these cool motion
shots. And of course walking around at night with all
the young peeps out brought back memories of when I used
to to the fair back in Halifax, Virginia....except it
wasn't freezing cold! The only things missing were the
fireworks and the Round-Up and my partner in
crime...Mike D. |

To
Grandmother's House We Go

Here's
an odd experience I had yesterday. I host and maintain
several realtor websites in my home town and was adding
some new listings when I got this weird feeling...but I
didn't realize why at first. I do so many real estate
listings that I barely pay attention to the homes but
something about this one just struck me as odd or at the
least...not right.
Then it hit me...this was my grand parent's house! Talk
about having one of those "Oh wow!" moments.
I started having all these flash backs of childhood
summers and Christmases and football games with my
cousins and uncles...and who would have ever thought I'd
be doing the website listing for my grand parent's house
one day? Even weirder thought...will I be doing the
website listing for my own parent's house in 20? 30
years? I plan to be rich by that time so hopefully I'll
be able to buy it and well...I don't know...just not
sell it.
Not something I want to think about right now though.
This was weird enough.

The French
Arrive In Iraq

After
two years of protesting the war in Iraq, the French
finally decided to pitch in and help. First to arrive
was the French Navy and luckily, someone managed to get
it on film. Check out this hilarious clip of the French
storming the beaches.
(Maybe it's a good thing they didn't help after all!)

Coming NOT
Soon: JimmyPowell.net

Finally...I've been waiting
for nearly 5 years for this domain to become available
and it finally did last nite. Some guy in Germany had
been using it all this time but now it's mine...all
mine! Ahhh-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! (Evil laugh)
So I
guess you're all wondering what in the world I'd put at
JimmyPowell.net that I don't already have here?
Well...more than likely, I'm going to make it my photo
site where I showcase all my photography and let people
buy prints, download wallpapers, etc., etc. I've been
thinking about doing something like that for a long time
but I really wanted to have the .net domain to do it
with and now I do. It's now on my project list but don't
expect it to spring up over night. I have about 100
things on my list in front of that...but we'll see.

Joke of the
Week (I need one!)
Posted by Jimmy: Sunday,
April 17th, 2005 :: 11:32 PM PST ::
Comment On This Post
No one's sent me any good
jokes in the past few days so I don't have a Joke of the
Week just yet. I'm sure by the time I get up tomorrow
I'll have a few but don't everyone send me every lame
joke that's been going around the net for 10 years now.
Worthwhile content only!
So for the time being,
here's some interesting links to keep you from doing
what you're supposed to be doing right now...working!
-
Rubber Band-It - Fun, flash game involving
shooting rubber bands at your co-workers and a great
way not to get your work done.
-
Flat Earth Society - There's actually an
organization of people that believe the world is
flat, Australia doesn't exist and the moon landings
never happened. Sad and amusing at the same time.
-
Copycat Recipes - A great page for anyone that
wants to make their favorite restaurant foods at
home...even KFC chicken!
-
Only In... - Amusing photos about cultural
differences in the world. Glad I don't live in
Africa.
-
Growl Karaoke - A hilarious little parody of
what karaoke would be like if you chose one of the
worst metal songs ever! I think I could be a huge
star if this kind of music were actually popular.
-
The Earth At Night - Amazing photo showing the
city lights all over the world. Look how bright our
neck of the woods is at night.
If you
ever run across any good links, email them to me and in
most cases I'll put them on here. No $$ involved but
I'll give your credit! Enjoy!
