Grandmother's House We Go

Here's
an odd experience I had yesterday. I host and maintain
several realtor websites in my home town and was adding
some new listings when I got this weird feeling...but I
didn't realize why at first. I do so many real estate
listings that I barely pay attention to the homes but
something about this one just struck me as odd or at the
least...not right.
Then it hit me...this was my grand parent's house! Talk
about having one of those "Oh wow!" moments.
I started having all these flash backs of childhood
summers and Christmases and football games with my
cousins and uncles...and who would have ever thought I'd
be doing the website listing for my grand parent's house
one day? Even weirder thought...will I be doing the
website listing for my own parent's house in 20? 30
years? I plan to be rich by that time so hopefully I'll
be able to buy it and well...I don't know...just not
sell it.
Not something I want to think about right now though.
This was weird enough.

The French
Arrive In Iraq
(No Politics, Just Humor)

After
two years of protesting the war in Iraq, the French
finally decided to pitch in and help. First to arrive
was the French Navy and luckily, someone managed to get
it on film. Check out this hilarious clip of the French
storming the beaches.
(Maybe it's a good thing they didn't help after all!)

Coming NOT
Soon: JimmyPowell.net

Finally...I've been waiting
for nearly 5 years for this domain to become available
and it finally did last nite. Some guy in Germany had
been using it all this time but now it's mine...all
mine! Ahhh-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! (Evil laugh)
So I
guess you're all wondering what in the world I'd put at
JimmyPowell.net that I don't already have here?
Well...more than likely, I'm going to make it my photo
site where I showcase all my photography and let people
buy prints, download wallpapers, etc., etc. I've been
thinking about doing something like that for a long time
but I really wanted to have the .net domain to do it
with and now I do. It's now on my project list but don't
expect it to spring up over night. I have about 100
things on my list in front of that...but we'll see.

Joke of the
Week (I need one!)

Comment On This Post
No one's sent me any good
jokes in the past few days so I don't have a Joke of the
Week just yet. I'm sure by the time I get up tomorrow
I'll have a few but don't everyone send me every lame
joke that's been going around the net for 10 years now.
Worthwhile content only!
So for the time being,
here's some interesting links to keep you from doing
what you're supposed to be doing right now...working!
-
Rubber Band-It - Fun, flash game involving
shooting rubber bands at your co-workers and a great
way not to get your work done.
-
Flat Earth Society - There's actually an
organization of people that believe the world is flat,
Australia doesn't exist and the moon landings never
happened. Sad and amusing at the same time.
-
Copycat Recipes - A great page for anyone that
wants to make their favorite restaurant foods at
home...even KFC chicken!
-
Only In... - Amusing photos about cultural
differences in the world. Glad I don't live in Africa.
-
Growl Karaoke - A hilarious little parody of
what karaoke would be like if you chose one of the
worst metal songs ever! I think I could be a huge star
if this kind of music were actually popular.
-
The Earth At Night - Amazing photo showing the
city lights all over the world. Look how bright our
neck of the woods is at night.
If you
ever run across any good links, email them to me and in
most cases I'll put them on here. No $$ involved but
I'll give your credit! Enjoy!

Weekend
Update

Comment On This Post
This
was certainly a busy and eventful weekend for us. It was
nice and sunny and we decided to get out of the house
for change...working from home can really give you cabin
fever sometimes! We got up around noon on Saturday and
started getting ready when our friend Abbey dropped by.
She moved to DC last summer for her job but was in town
this weekend interviewing for a new job here. Turns out
she couldn't stand being out of the South Bay. Once you
get used to the weather here, it's pretty hard to deal
with the cold and even worse...snow! Abbey visited with
us for about an hour before she had to run off and look
for a new apartment...I think she's gonna move back
regardless of whether or not she gets the job she was
interviewing for. We can't wait for her to get back!
After Abbey left, we headed
to Riviera Village and got some energy shakes from Jamba
Juice and then Kim got an hour long massage while I went
and picked up some new camera accessories...a.k.a., new
toys! We cruised around after that and did some window
shopping before having a very late dinner at one of our
favorite restaurants, Misto Cafe. It's a swanky little
place nestled in at the bottom of the Palos Verdes
Peninsula.
Sunday was really sunny but
a little windy but we still went out and had lunch and
basically spent the rest of the day shopping here and
there....picking up little things...odds and ends...no
plasma TV's or anything noteworthy! It was just good to
be outdoors all day now that all the rain seems to be
behind us and summer is right around the corner.

I Wasn't
Evil Today

Comment On This Post
Even
though Star Wars fever is in full swing I resisted the
urge to turn to the dark side and be "evil" today. I
paid my taxes (why give the government their money
early?) and even game some free tech support to a
company in Florida that called about some domain issues
they were having. I could have convinced them that
they needed to contract me to do it but instead I explained how
they could solve the problem on their own server and
didn't need my services! I felt like taking my own
temperature after that but maybe that good deed will
grant me some good karma this week.
See Shayne...I'm really not
the devil after all! (Or am
I?) Ha-ha!
*This is mostly an inside
joke among some of my friends and shouldn't be taken too
seriously by anyone not in the loop!*

Sometimes,
Crime Really Doesn't Pay

This
is one of the most shocking vids I've seen in a while. I
think I literally gasped at one point. It's a
surveillance camera video of a guy trying to rob a
clothing store but winds up in a real life shoot out
with the owner of the store. It literally resembles a
scene from every wild west move you've ever seen only
set inside a clothing store. Crime certainly didn't pay
for this guy. WARNING: This video is very graphic and
pretty disturbing.

Go Gonzales!

I
wasn't really sure what to expect from the new U.S.
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales but his first major
show of force was pretty awesome. He initiated Operation
FALCON: a law enforcement dragnet that has nabbed over
10,000 fugitives over the space of about 7 days.
Included were criminals wanted on murder charges, sexual
assault and rape, drug distribution and the worst of the
worst, gang members. America can sleep a little safer
tonite knowing that 10,340 fugitives are off the
street...at least until the lawyers and liberal judges
set them free again. They should run an operation like
this every single week! Go Gonzales!

3D Pac-man
(Take Some Tylenol First)

You
can keep this version of Pac-Man, I like the old 2D
version much better...but it's still fun to play until
you start getting a headache. I was playing this last
nite and before you know it you start feeling a little
vertigo and getting a headache. I can only imagine what
this would have been like had they designed it so you
seeing things at eye-level. Speaking of which, how does
Pac-Man really know where he's going or when there's a
ghost around the corner? Guess we shouldn't over-think
that! Just enjoy!

The Naked
Alphabet

Here's
another great time waster! Every wondered what your name
would look like if it were spelled out by naked people?
I haven't either but that didn't stop me from having fun
at this site. Just enter your name or any phrase and it
reproduces it in naked people configuration.
Again, no real purpose behind this other than to waste
time when you should be working!

How To Trip
With Your PC

I
don't even know how to describe what's going on at this
website but some people must have too much free time on
their hands to come up with stuff like this. Next time
you're tripping on acid (not that I would anything about
that) this website should really enhance your trip and
provide you with hours of mind numbing fun. In fact,
this would be a great website for young kids
too...though I don't recommend letting them trip on
acid. :^P
Turns out
this website is for kids. Apparently these things are
called BooBahs and are some kind of kids toys similar to
the Teletubbies...only weirder if you can believe that.

Iraq Without

There's
a bunch of these vids all over the net but this one is
my fav so far. It's a great flash video about Saddam
Hussein, 9/11, and the War In Iraq set to Eminem's
Without Me. The funniest part for me is when Saddam
raps about being in prison and if you listen closely,
you can hear Eric Cartman saying "You just got F'd in
the A!" Very Funny!

Remember
as a kid, getting a magnifying glass and focusing a beam
of sunlight on ants and literally burning them up with
sunlight? Ever wonder what would happen if the ants
could get their revenge for the genocide inflicted on
them young boys everywhere? This little game shows what
that revenge would be like! Very fun! Be sure and get
the truck!

Manamana
(Muppets Skit)

Mike
D. showed me this a long time ago but it seems
to be catching on as some underground hit on the net. So
much so in fact that Dr. Pepper is using it in one of
their commercials and I've heard it on some radio shows
as well. I really don't understand what the allure is
but it is a pretty catchy tune and as with any Muppet's
skit, the best part is the two old geezers at the end.
Enjoy and good luck getting this song out of your head!
